Irish technology claims energy breakthrough

04.07.2007 - Today, the public have been invited to come and observe Orbo technology, developed by Irish company Steorn, which produces a free, constant supply of energy that will change history if it does what it claims.

Orbo technology, which Sean McCarthy, CEO of Steorn said was discovered accidentally, theoretically produces energy from nowhere using magnetics.

“The law of conservation of energy has been very reliable for 300 years, however it’s missing one variable from the equation, and that’s time,” said McCarthy.

McCarthy explained to Silicon Republic that Orbo technology works on the basis that occurrences in magnetic fields do not happen instantaneously, and are therefore not subject to time in the way that, say, gravity is.

... Rest can be found at http://www.siliconrepublic.com/news/news.nv?storyid=single8713

SIGGRAPH Poster

One of my assignments for Digital Imaging - Photoshop 2 class was to create a poster for the upcoming SIGGRAPH event. The theme for 2006 is "Interaction/interface." I took an abstract path regarding the theme, considering few of the designs I saw from my class included a human face.

I would like everyone to provide a constructive criticism.

Link: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/25355745/

Two days ago, I went to the video store to return some dvds. I parked my car, got out, and heard someone say "sir" in the car next to me. I didn't assume it was directed to me so I walked another step only to hear it again. A girl was supposed to meet her friend in front of Rite Aid but he didn't show up, and she was coming all the way from Jackson (70 miles away). She was so nervous that I saw her shaking a little and crying. I gave her $10, not sure how far it will get her with the high gas prices ($2.70/g) at the time.
It happened to me before at a gas station where a man asked for money for gas, and after I gave him $5, I saw him come out with a pack of ciggarettes. Whether she was lying or not, I felt sorry for her. It's possible she wasn't lying and could have been in such an embarassing situation.

I have to be at work at 7:00am, so off I go to the shower now.

Dog Saves Abandoned Baby

Tuesday 10 May 2005

A dog foraging for food retrieved an abandoned baby girl in a forest in Kenya and carried her to its litter of puppies, according to media reports yesterday.

The stray dog carried the infant across a busy road and a barbed wire fence in a poor neighbourhood in the Ngong Forests area of the capital, Nairobi, a witness, Stephen Thoya, told the independent Daily Nation newspaper.

The dog apparently found the baby on Friday in the plastic bag in which she had been abandoned, said Aggrey Mwalimu, the owner of the compound where the dog is now living.

Doctors said the baby had been abandoned about two days before the dog discovered her. Hannah Gakuo, the spokeswoman for the Kenyatta national hospital, where the girl was taken for treatment, said no one had yet claimed the baby.

She said the infant "is doing well, responding to treatment - she is stable ... she is on antibiotics." Workers at the hospital are calling the child Angel, she added.

"Abandoned babies are normally taken to the Kenyatta national hospital because it is a public hospital," Ms Gakuo said. "People are now donating diapers and baby clothes for this one."

----- Truth Out, http://www.truthout.org

That put a smile on my face. Just what the dog did is just heart-melting and should make every person out there think twice before underestimating animals.

I saw a possum yesterday for the first time! I came back from work and heading towards the back door when I saw a tail between the bag of garbage and the stairs.. it looked at me for 5 seconds than backed to try to hide itself between the stairs and the bag and kept quiet. I didn't know if I could try to pet it or not or if I should even approach it.. but I opened the door and thankfully it didn't decide to get in the house.

Such a cute animal!

Decaduto Urlare, or Decayed Scream

Whenever I used to be sitting, bored, I didn't know what I could do to enjoy this valuable waste of time. After a friend has introduced me to a music software once, I decided to install it again and do what I can with it; though I'm still learning my best on it, I have so far made up 3 songs.

In order of creation:
"Dancing Melancholy" is a simple, calm song with a pre-made-up beat. (one person favours this on the 2nd)

"Joy Through Destruction" is sudden with distorted guitars inciting destruction, but as one listener said, it shows the person joy in its high-pitched piano notes also. (one person favours this on the first)

"Resistance" was done a day ago and I had only one person listen to it so far. It starts off calmly with a simple beat and piano. The rest is for you to listen to! Oh, and I made up the beat in this one, even though it's in a way repeatitive throughout the song. (only one listener, but favours it on the other two)

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/9/decadutourlare.htm
Requires a username to listen. It only takes 5 mins anyway.

I was in my Drawing class this past Tuesday, and a guy was talking to another when he took out his wallet. I decided to bug in and told him that an animal might have died for that wallet to be made, but he looked at my shoes and said that mine are leather. Now I'm still learning about this, but just now I remembered what happened and checked PETA's website and they had tips on how to differ real leather from fake one. Those "leather" boots of mine are man-made! hah!

While I'm still subjected to a life where sometimes I have to eat the only food available, basically I'm talking about meat, since my parents do so. Though I might sound hypocritical about being a pro-animal rights but yet still eating meat, I stopped eating chicken completely. Now whenever there is chicken cooked, I cook rice and eat it, or spaghetti.
Biggest issue now is the stupid Thanksgiving. I will use the "I don't like turkey" excuse so I won't have to eat it.

And.. just two hours ago I found this link on a message board: http://animals.beirut.com
It's absolutely awesome! I wish I was in Lebanon to help, since I am aware of how many dogs and cats roam the streets abused and hungry. I'm definetely donating when I go there, and I might as well start saving a little money from now. I'll take $20 from the money I receive on x-mas, if any, and also save money when I find a job. Now that would be awesome because than I'll be able to save a decent amount to donate.

"A Taiwanese man survived with only minor bite wounds after trying to convert two zoo lions to Christianity.Chen Chung-ho jumped into the lions' ensclosure at the Taipei City Zoo in Mucha, reports the China Post. Raising his hands above his head, he shouted: "Jesus will save you!" and "Come bite me!" at the two African lions. At first the big cats, lounging under a tree, paid no attention to the man but finally they attacked him, injuring his arms and legs. The two lions pulled back after the 46-year old man put his hands in front of his chest to pray.

After a standoff that lasted for about 30 minutes, zoo staff used water cannons to chase the lions away and calmed the animals with tranquilizer guns. The rescued man was rushed to the nearby Wan Fang Hospital for treatment. Zoo officials claimed Chen would have been more seriously hurt had the lions not been fed earlier in the day."

Source: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1163530.html?menu=news.quirkies

Alright, I'm getting off the pop (coke/pepsi/mountain dew) addiction! At least I'll try my best. The problem is I have no idea how other than just not drinking it and it just doesn't sound like a good way. I need a substitute that I won't get addicted to, besides water or juice. I don't mind getting addicted to coffee. It would still be better than pop, or so I think. Any advice would be appreciate it!

I downloaded a bunch of ebooks off some people yesterday night -- "The Da Vinci Code," "Vargsmal" (which is a book written by Varg Vikernes, founder of the one-member band Burzum. Though I don't like him because he is a worthless neo-nazi, I still want to read what he wrote and probably write an essay about him based on his "thoughts"), "Mein Kampf" (always wanted to read that book, but never wanted to pay for it), "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" (I wanted to read it again), and other texts that are more of essays.

So I bought a phone card last time to call her but apparently the phone card wasn't a good one. So I called Customer Service, I gave the guy the PIN number, and said that in 45mins it should work just fine. Waited 3 hours and it still didn't work. Mainly when I come to the point where I am to dial the number I'm reaching, once I do so, it's supposed to tell me how many minutes I have left and once it does so, it connects me. Apparently it was cutting off right after "You have.." and basically doesn't connect me anywhere.
The next day, I tried again and it still did the same thing, not to forget that I lost $3 from the $5 (59mins) I had. So I called Customer Service again, the same guy answered:

CS: Hello, this is bla bla bla
Me: Hi, yes, I'm having some problems with my phone card. I called you last time and you supposedly fixed it.
CS: We're currently updating our systems. Everything should be fine after 45mins. We apologize for any inconveniance.
Me: That's what you said last time.
CS: *long pause* Well, sir, you could give me your PIN number and I will talk to my supervisor.
Me: (yes, fuck you too) Um, you know what, it's ok. It seems like a waste of time. Have nice day.

FUCKHEADS! as if I have money to waste on non-working phone cards!

Had a test today in Intro to Computer Programming. I think I did good. Hopefully.

And that's it for tonight! *toot toot toot toot...*

I applied for a part-time job at the South Lansing Library. They pay $11.08/h, and their requirements is to have a highschool diploma and be able to speak a second language. I am fluent in two, besides English, Arabic and French. I so badly want this job because if I do indeed get it, I would be able to go to Lebanon next summer. The thought of it just excites the hell out of me, and if they don't hire me, than something is really wrong with those people. I'm getting the job. I will get it. I will bomb their asses if I don't!

Anyway, I keep drinking coffee but it has no effect on me. I don't want to sleep, I hate sleeping. I have 2 Algebra homeworks I need to get done, I need to take the test too. I have another homework for CITP 110 due on Tuesday; I think I will work on it tomorrow.
Design & Communication is very easy so far. Drawing is, too.

I was tempted to rent The Passion of the Christ last time, so I did. Have-sympathy-for-Jesus but nice special effects. Satan is always an attractive women. Mel Gibson knew well how to work on the mutant kids! *wonders who the weird people really are in the end*

I'm thinking of calling her tomorrow. I still miss her so very much, but tomorrow might be the end of it. I am stuck between emotions that keep changing towards her. Sometimes I miss her, sometimes I mistrust everything she told me, and sometimes I just wanna forget I ever met her. I don't know if I should end this friendship now, because I wanna keep hoping.. but this hope is getting me nowhere besides utter sadness. It's such a hard decision, because I don't want to fuck up something I might not be understanding yet. I want to keep things as they are and surprise her when I go to Lebanon for a visit, but than again all the thoughts hurt me more. I'm so sick of those feelings that I just want them to vanish. She is beautiful in every means, it's so hard to let go someone you could rarely find.

Tomorrow college starts, and for my luck I happen to have CITP 110, which is Intro to Computer Programming. Than I get 3 days off - no classes until Monday. I went to LCC today to get the book for the class and it's only sheets and a cd. It only cost me $10, which is awesome.
I hope I'll find a parking place tomorrow on the road.

Installed Gangland on Joe's computer last time and played it. Awesome game; similar to GTA2, but better. You start as a member of an Italian "family" and Vincenzo (the boss) tells you to do jobs for him and he pays you in return. Than after a few missions, Vencenzo goes missing and the other boss tells you to do a job for him and once this is done, he rewards you a safehouse for yourself, and you get your wife there and start hiring people and taking over businesses, and than you become a millionaire :p but once you have an underboss (your own child), the Columbian family starts attacking and you basically die because it's very hard to defend yourself with a limited amount of members working for you.
The cheatcodes didn't work, so that sucked.

Empire Earth is ok, similar to Age of Empires, but get to do more things and get more units.. I liked Rise of Nations more.
